Getting Ready

Assistant Race Director, Mariglyn Glenn (aka The Boss) and staffer Cara Kennedy out early to man the registration desk. The Clear Creek Cavaliers are not only the best looking girls this side of the lake, they handle our most important commodity: the food.Members of the Fighting Clear Creek Football squad provide the much needed muscle to move the goods, mainly ice.
Geri Rochford, run volunteer extraordinare, giving race director Steve Glenn last minute instructions. Rookie volunteer, Roy Decker receiving his instructions (if this wasn't his first time he probably wouldn't be there).Race director Steve Glenn telling Paul Finney if he doesn't shape up he's looking at a paycut. Sharon Schmalz, finish sequencer, knows her job is secure.
Steve Coney, left, finish line video camera man, and Joe Longoria (right). Joe has worked behind the scene as finish line coordinator every year and is a major reason the finish has run so smoothly. Astronaut Nancy Currie was able to take some time off training for the first Space Station assembly mission to be our honorary race starter. She also handed out medals to the winners. From left to right: Stuart Glenn (I don't know what he does); Thomas Duran (age 9 on race day) one of our youngest volunteers (and he's been helping for the last three years); and Walt Pinkston, the voice of the Summer Kick-Off Fun Run for seven years.
Beauty and brains. No, not the race director - Julie Musial. She ran in the first Kick-Off Run and has worked on the finish line ever since. See what I mean about the brains. Beauties and the beast. Julie Musial, tag taker; Cara Kennedy, registration and finish line; and Stuart Glenn (I still don't know what he does).Just to prove it's not all pretty girls at the Summer Kick-Off Fun Run, here's Jay Lee, timing computer operator and race director of the Resurrection Run in Nassau Bay. That other guy is not so pretty either.
That's Scott Thompson, normally on the other side of the camera and Andie Lee, Kid's K director and finish line worker. What's Leonard Topolski so happy about? It's his birthday and he has to work this crummy run. Leonard is a great guy who not only encouraged the first Summer Kick-Off Run, but has pitched in every year to make it a success.Ever seen this guy? Probably not because he was out on the course for his seventh year as the Course Supervisor. This is Cesar Duran. If he looks a little tired it might be because he started working the run at 1:00 (yes AM).
