STS-51 Commander Frank Culbertson shown wearing a First Annual Summer Kick-Off Fun Run shirt onboard Discover (September, 1993). Definitely one of my favorite photographs. Check here to download large version of photograph (205 KBytes).
Frank was a great friend to James, a great friend to the Glenn family, a great friend to Clear Creek High School, a great friend of the Kick-Off Run, and I could go on as could everyone whose life he has touched. My words would always be inadequate to convey the character of this man and I'm sure he has accomplished much that I don't know about.
Something I do know about are his Shuttle missions. He was the pilot for STS-38 and the commander for STS-51 (a mission I would have seen if he had launched on time).
